a thought experiment

There are two ways of interpreting this question. Either you are born in this world, or you travel to that world.

If  we are born into that world, we wouldn’t know of any other way of life. Therefore we would not even think about the question of wether our way of life is good or bad.

But if we travel to this translucent world from our world, we would know of its better and worse. In a world where your thoughts are exposed, there can’t be any crime, since it is impossible to lie. And of course war is impossible since everyone would just know of your plans immediately. But If only one person learns to deceive others, the world would come to its end. Because if they learn to keep their own secrets, then they could do whatever they want without anyone knowing.

In a translucent world, you can’t possibly have any privacy, because your mind is accessible to everyone else. While this may seem bad, it can be very beneficial. For example, there is no need of education, as children could access everything they would ever need to or want to know at once. If a discovery is made, the whole world could know of it in just seconds.

Then there is the problem of entertainment. We play sport, but like war, we would know of our opponent’s strategy immediately, don’t even think about chess.

So in this world, there could be many possibilities of good or bad.
