I used Minecraft to do my homework, but if you don't want to watch the full video, here's a summary:

I conclude that if the sixth lion is the last you take when it's your turn, you will win the game. If you go first, you have a higher chance of winning the game. For example, it's multiplayer in a video game, and the fight is fair, but you get a first hit on your opponent. You will probably win the game. It is same here. You fill up space first, then your opponent fills up more space for you, because they have to at least pick one lion, and it fills up space for you to get to the sixth lion.
